The IELTS exam, which lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes, is divided into four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are all completed on the same day, while the Speaking section can be scheduled for the same day or within seven days before or after the main test date. These sections collectively assess the candidates' English proficiency.
The ELTS assesses all essential English skills and enjoys broad recognition, offering more frequent test dates throughout the year. The C1 Advanced, a Cambridge exam, also evaluates all key English skills. Both exams are globally recognized.
Why should you write IELTS?
IELTS serves as the premier test for three main purposes:
- Education: Many prestigious universities and colleges worldwide recognize IELTS as proof of English proficiency for admission.
- Professional Registration: Various professional bodies, such as those in accounting, engineering, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and teaching, accept IELTS results for registration in English-speaking countries. This familiarity with the IELTS format can be advantageous if you later seek professional registration.
- Migration: Governments of several countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, require IELTS scores for permanent residency applications. The specific score needed depends on visa requirements.
